Yoko-Ji is a residential Soto zen monastery that graciously hosts Hollow Bones Zen for this retreat. The daily retreat schedule includes morning and evening services, seated zazen meditation, kinhin walking meditation, conscious embodiment practice, teisho dharma talks, opportunities for dokusan (one-on-one interviews with a roshi), nature walks and short breaks for private reflection, and intensive Mondo Zen Koan Process programming in large and small group contexts.
This is a residential and in-person only retreat. Food and lodging in shared rooms are included in the cost of the retreat. During the retreat, we observe essential silence and ask that you plan your week to be free from outside communication and distractions.
Hollow Bones retreats are a modern adaptation of traditional Japanese Rinzai zen retreats. All practices are done in English in order to facilitate direct, personal understanding of the methods and goals. This retreat offers the opportunity for intensive practice to support your awakening, creating a strong container for you to experience deep inquiry and insight.
